Yoga + Breathwork + Hiking Immersion for Queer Men

•• Kaua’i, HI, USA ••

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"
Mary Oliver

Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’re a queer man who’s looking for something…

Do you feel lonely, or even spiritually drained, like you’ve lost your passion and zest for life?

Have you been striving for meaning and significance in your career, romance, or travel, but it never seems to bring lasting fulfillment?

Perhaps even wondering, if there’s more to life and the world?

Know there is nothing lacking from your life.

You don’t need a new hobby to distract you.
You don’t need to seek happiness and fulfillment outside yourself.
You don’t need to revamp your life with a new job or romantic pursuit.

You simply need to reconnect to your one true and wild Soul.

Why rewild my Soul?

One of the key challenges in life for queer men, is loneliness. Having been taught early in life that who we are and who we love is unacceptable, we repress authentic parts of ourselves, and strive for acceptance. This strategy works… for a time.

But we’re left disconnected from ourselves, others, and the world around us. Many queer men try to find liberation from this loneliness in the “scene”—mindless drinking and soul-less promiscuous sex. But even here, the fulfillment is fleeting, and the loneliness always creeps back in, or is perhaps even amplified.

Soul Rewilding is a re-membering—a coming home to our animal bodies and our animate world… the world to which we have always belonged, but have forgotten. The Rewilded Soul savors his alone time, and allows the loneliness to do its work on him, to open his heart to his deeper desires.

For those courageous enough, Soul Rewilding offers a path to sustainable and lasting belonging, because we are finally at home in our bodies, and in nature.

Soul Rewilding is more than a retreat. It’s an initiation.

The energy of the soul is love, but for most Queer Men, we have been shamed for who and how we love. We received this wounding early in life, but have never fully been welcomed home into the wild world to which we have always belonged, but have forgotten.

Soul Rewilding is built on Three Pillars:

1
Connection to Self

We begin healing the Earth by healing ourselves. By peeling back the layers of conditioning and trauma, we uncover our Soul, the unique gift we carry for others and the world

“The gift you carry for others is not an attempt to save the world but to fully belong to it. It's not possible to save the world by trying to save it. You need to find what is genuinely yours to offer the world before you can make it a better place. Discovering your unique gift to bring to your community is your greatest opportunity and challenge. The offering of that gift - your true self - is the most you can do to love and serve the world. And it is all the world needs.”

2
Connection to Others

We discover our Souls through connection — not just to human others, but the animals, plants, landforms, waterways, and residents of the sky.

“By deepening our relationships with the Others, our gratitude for the whole world grows and we become more capable and responsible members of the world community. We also uncover mysteries about our unique way of belonging to this world of Others. Through communion with all of life, we weave a healthier and more balanced world back into being.”

3
Connection to Nature

We are a part of nature, not apart from nature. We are animal bodies living in an animate world. We belong here as much as much as any island, dolphin, hummingbird, tree, or fungi.

“The word nature comes from the Latin natus, "to be born,” and the nature of a thing "has to do with that dynamic principle that holds something together and gives it its identity." …in the same way, the soul holds our individuality together and gives us our identity. Soul and nature are only slightly different ways of talking about the essence of a thing... The soul of a blossom is its essential nature. Our human souls consist of those aspects of self that are most natural, that are most of nature…”

A day of Soul Rewilding

7:00 a.m. — waking up to the sounds of the jungle coming to life. Birds chirping, sunshine through waving palms, feeling refreshed. Walking outside to join your 11 queer brothers in a deep & nourishing outdoor yoga practice.

Enjoy a light and filling breakfast on the veranda — tropical fruits, chia pudding, or oats, with organic coffee or tea.

After breakfast gather your items for the day and we'll all head out for a hike to a stunning jungle waterfall, where we'll practice Nature-based mindfulness + introspective journalwork, followed by swimming and frolicking with your brothers in the water.

A delicious, organic lunch will be packed to nourish you before the hike back

In the evening, we gather for Cacao Circle, Sound Healing, Fire Ceremony, or a Somatic Breathwork Journey, where we will delve deep to feel and heal the grief — alchemizing anger, sadness, and trauma — of growing up in a world that is out of alignment with nature and sought to suppress our wild and sacred queerness.

Enjoy a delicious dinner with your brothers — dropping into deep conversation about the practices, or light banter and laughter about the events of the day. Then get a deep night’s rest. Tomorrow morning we're going to the beach for yoga and a swim!

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting—
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

~Mary Oliver, Wild Geese
