An initiatory pilgrimage into land, lineage, and living medicine
quiet the mind ❖ reorient the heart ❖ remember what you are here for
•• Chavín, Perú ••
• 25 April — May 4, 2026 •
A 10-day journey into the heart of the Andean Cosmovision, the hearth of ancient archaeology and prayerways,
and a deep dive into a living lineage with the master plant Huachuma
“When a complex system is far from equilibrium, small islands of coherence in a sea of chaos have the capacity to shift the entire system to a higher order”
Dear family,
We are breathing deeply in a time of intensity and forgetting…
A time when many of us feel fragmented, oversaturated, and far from truth. Rather than turning outward for answers, we feel the pull to turn inward, to slow down and listen, and to gather in ways that restore coherence and care.
There is something ancient and simple that happens when we step away from the noise and come back to the warmth of shared presence – to sit by the fire together and share silence and song, tears and laughter, and to weave a prayer for the future ones.
This pilgrimage is a return to the hearth - within and without - to reconnect with your essence, and orient the compass of your heart toward what is most alive, true, and meaningful for you.
In these times of great change, even a small field of grounded presence can become an island of coherence. We are called to deepen our roots as a way of standing more fully in our lives – grounded, resourced, and in right relationship.
To do this sacred work, we return to “the center” — Chavín de Huántar,
a place purpose-built for pilgrimage, held high among the Apus, between jungle and sea, earth and sky.
Here, we enter a living lineage of ancient medicines and prayerways, to remember what it means to live in right relation:
with ourselves, our community, and our beloved Earth.
If you feel this prayer in your heart, you are warmly invited to walk this path with us.
With Munay,
Yewyn and Jonathan
The Medicine
Huachuma, or Tsunaq, as it is known locally, means “the silencer.” By helping quiet the mind, this medicine attunes us to the language of the body, especially the heart – bringing us into deeper presence with the here and now. Tsunaq is a plant spirit, an animate being we come into relationship with. It is not a medicine we “take.”
In conversation with this being, we may carry our deepest questions, fears, and longings. If our prayer is from the heart, and the conditions are favorable, the epicenter our being will bloom like the flowering cactus itself.
From this place, gratitude and love may be felt flowing through all relations and all beings, from soil to sky, re-weaving us into the web of creation.
The Center
Thousands of years ago in central Perú, a civilization arose in the high Andes: Chavín. At the center of this civilization stood a great stone temple at nearly 10,000 feet elevation: Chavín de Huántar. This massive complex conceals a labyrinth of underground chambers and corridors that would become an early epicenter of Andean spirituality.
The city's location at the headwaters of the Marañón River, between the coast and the jungle, attracted seekers and initiates from various regions to this early mystery school. The name Chavín derives from the word chaupin meaning “the center,” and invites us to drop the polarity of the mind into the heart – the centerpoint where we come to know ourselves, our truth, and our path through this life.
The layout, architecture, and hydrodynamics were engineered for a specific purpose: for ceremonial and initiatory work with entheogenic plant medicine, Huachuma.
Yanantin
There is evidence that Chavín de Huantar was buried intentionally. In this sense, many believe it was intended as a sort of time capsule, to be uncovered when humanity would be receptive to the spiritual consciousness that originated here. We believe Yanantin to be one such concept, a beautiful medicine for these times of increasing polarization:
Yanantin refers to a sacred pairing of complementary opposites. It is not about sameness, hierarchy, or one side dominating the other. In Andean thought, Yanantin describes:
Two distinct forces
That are different in nature, yet equal in value
And necessary to one another
Existing in dynamic relationship, not fusion or erasure
On an inner level, Yanantin is the capacity to hold opposites without collapsing into conflict or dissociation. Rather than:
Choosing one side
Identifying with a single pole
Or trying to “heal” polarity by getting rid of one aspect
Yanantin invites:
Witnessing both
Honoring the tension
Allowing relationship to emerge

Guides for this Journey
Maestra Cecilia
A revered Quechua medicine woman, Grandmother Cecilia has dedicated over a decade to serving Tsunaq medicine with integrity, reverence, and grace. She is a w⁹isdom keeper of the Chavin region and brings ancestral knowledge, ceremonial expertise, and a heart-centered approach to guiding transformation.
"From Quechwa parents and grandparents, with the ceremonial use of traditional sacred cactus… I refer to the language used by my parents, family members, and community members. Vibrant words, conveying ancient messages that I was able to comprehend beside the cactus and Chavin Temple. The peoples' cosmic relationship and ancestral knowledge, which is still alive in the Conchuos communities."
Raul
Cecilia’s son, an anthropologist and gifted musician, Raul enriches ceremonies with his music, storytelling, and presence. His artistic expression embodies the spiritual connection cultivated through Tsunaq.
Yewyn
For nearly twenty years, Yewyn has walked a path rooted in plant medicine, somatic healing, and devotional inner work. His life and practice have been shaped by profound initiatory seasons and spiritual emergence that deepened his capacity to sit with the full spectrum of the experience of life. He holds training in Craniosacral and Polarity Therapy (NMAHA), has studied the Yew Mysteries, and has spent almost 2 decades in relationship with plant medicine traditions in Peru and Mexico.
Over the years, he has held plant circles, supported clients through one-on-one sessions and consultations, and facilitated retreat in Chavín de Huantar, staying connected with a living Huachuma lineage in Peru. These threads weave together in HeartH Tend, his offering devoted to helping others reconnect with their essence, remember their belonging, and return home to themselves with compassion, integrity, and presence.
Jonathan Puma
Jonathan is a psychospiritual wilderness guide and somatic practitioner devoted to embodied healing and soul remembrance through nature, breath, and ritual. Trained in Andean Yoga in the Sacred Valley of Peru, Somatic Breathwork (Soma+IQ), and psychedelic facilitation through Johns Hopkins and MAPS, he has guided immersive group retreats and ceremonial journeys in Hawaii, Colorado, Perú, and Nicaragua – creating carefully held containers for deep inquiry, embodied insight, and communion with the animate Earth.
From past journeys and journeyers…
May this pilgrimage be an island of coherence…
a living prayer, in service to life.
